Registration now open for Summer Scholars On Stage immersive theater camp

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擱egistration is now open for Mississippi State鈥檚 2026 Summer Scholars On Stage, a residential musical theater camp for middle and high school students interested in writing, performance and technical theater. The three-week camp, celebrating its 44th year, is set for June 7鈥27.
Summer Scholars On Stage offers 7th graders to high school seniors an immersive experience in which students collaborate to create and produce an original three-act musical聽from the ground up. Participants choose one of three specialized tracks鈥攚riting, performance or technical theater鈥攁nd work alongside experienced educators and theater professionals throughout the program.
鈥淪ummer Scholars On Stage gives students an extraordinary opportunity to experience the full creative process, from concept to curtain call,鈥 Camp Director Stephen Cunetto said. 鈥淧articipants not only develop their artistic skills, but also build confidence, collaboration and leadership in a collegiate setting.鈥
During the first week, students in the writing track聽develop the original production鈥檚 script and lyrics, while those in the technical theater track聽design and begin construction of the set and production elements. The final two weeks focus on performance, during which students audition, rehearse and prepare for the fully staged world premiere of the new musical.
The program serves students from across the state, region and beyond.
